Platforms

Your files never leave your device. This tool runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored or sent to a server.

Drop in a vertical video or image and switch on each platform to see the areas its interface covers. Free, instant, and nothing leaves your device.

    How to use it

    1. Drop in a 9:16 image or video, or press Choose file. Video plays so you can scrub through your hook, captions and end card.
    2. Switch the platforms you run ads on. Each one shades the strips of the frame that its buttons, caption block and profile bar usually cover.
    3. Turn on the combined safe area to see the one rectangle that is clear on every selected platform.
    4. Move your text, logo and product shot inside the gold outline, then export the annotated frame as a PNG to share with your editor.

Why safe zones decide whether an ad works

Vertical placements put the platform's own interface on top of your creative: the like, comment and share column on the right, the account name, caption and call-to-action button along the bottom, and a progress bar and profile strip at the top. Anything important that sits underneath is hidden or clipped, and the most common casualties are subtitles, price tags and the call-to-action itself.

The first three seconds are when viewers decide to stay, so a hook line hidden behind the top bar costs you the test before it starts. This matters most for creator-style ads, where captions carry the message for the many people who watch muted.

    Reading the overlay

Meta publishes a guideline of roughly 14 percent at the top, 35 percent at the bottom and 6 percent on each side for Reels ads. The values for TikTok and YouTube Shorts here are the figures most commonly cited in public ad specification guides, and Stories uses a smaller bottom margin. Platforms change their interfaces and show different overlays by region and ad type, so treat the shading as a conservative guide and always run one in-app preview before you spend.

If your file is not 9:16, the tool places it inside a 9:16 frame and warns you. A 4:5 or 1:1 video shown in a vertical placement is letterboxed or cropped, which is rarely what you want.

    Privacy

Your files never leave your device. This tool runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, stored or sent to a server. The page loads its code once and does the work on your device. There is no upload, no account and no watermark, and nothing you add is stored on our servers.

    Questions

    About this tool.

Are these the official safe zones?

Meta's published guideline is about 14 percent top, 35 percent bottom and 6 percent sides for Reels ads. For TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Stories the tool uses the figures commonly cited in public ad specification guides, and platforms differ in what they publish. They are a conservative guide, not a guarantee, so check one real placement preview before you spend.

    Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened with your browser's own media player and drawn locally. Nothing is sent to a server, and closing the tab clears it.

What size should the video be?

Vertical 9:16 at 1080 by 1920 is the standard for Reels, TikTok, Shorts and Stories. Our Ad Video Compressor can re-export an existing file to that size.

Why is the bottom zone so large?

Reels and TikTok put the caption, music line and call-to-action button at the bottom, and the area grows when an ad has a button and a description. Keep subtitles above it.

Can I check a still image?

Yes. PNG, JPG and WebP images work the same way, which is handy for end cards and thumbnails.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, on any current phone browser. Large video files open faster on desktop.
